My story

“Mummy, mummy look horses! Can we go to see them and can I ride? Please, please, please!”
– “No, you are too young to get on those big animals!”
“Why??? But I really want to! I’ll do anything, please mum.”
– “Not this time. One day, just not yet.

This conversation went on and on with my mum for years.

Finally that one day came. I’ll never forget it!
I was around 8 years old and we were at the county show. There were a few horses and ponies there that you could have a pony ride on. Obviously I wanted to have a ride on the big horse. He was probably around 17hh high. From that first ride I knew this is what I wanted to do no matter what.

No one in my family is into horses. I never had the luxury of having my own pony or a horse when I was a child. I had to work and help out at the weekend and after school at the riding schools to get more lessons.

I’m originally from Estonia and horse riding is very expensive. No one really understood why I always wanted to go to the yard and spend a lot of time there, even if I didn’t have a riding lesson on that day. I heard a lot people saying that you are never going to make a living by riding horses, you will be just mucking out stables all day for pennies. Is that what you want to do for the rest of your life?!

Well… I guess I’ve proved them wrong! It hasn’t been easy. I even had to move to another country to do it, by leaving my family and friends behind. If you want something bad enough you’ll find a way if you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.
